Alexandra Ianculescu, a Canadian athlete, has recently attracted attention due to her candid statements about her career and unique approach to funding her Olympic dreams. Known for her impressive achievements in speed skating, she made her Winter Olympics debut in 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. However, despite fulfilling one of her childhood dreams, Ianculescu felt unprepared for the experience and has expressed a sense of unfinished business.
Now, she is looking to transition into a new athletic discipline and aims to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, this time as a cyclist.

Ianculescu’s journey into cycling began in 2018 when she tried track cycling for the first time. “I completely fell in love with it,” she recalls, describing the sport as a natural fit for her. She found the transition relatively easy, thanks to the power and endurance she built through her years of speed skating. Cycling has now become her primary focus as she works toward securing a spot on the Canadian cycling team for the upcoming Olympics.
However, financing her training and preparation for this new chapter in her athletic career has been a challenge. To support herself, Ianculescu has turned to a modern and unconventional method of income: OnlyFans. In 2021, she launched an account on the platform, which has become a significant source of revenue. “It’s helping me survive, pay rent, buy groceries, and cover my cycling and coffee bills,” she explains.
Ianculescu’s decision to start an OnlyFans account came after a suggestion from a friend. “Someone mentioned, ‘Why don’t you just have an OnlyFans account and do a behind-the-scenes of what you do? Since you’re already posting bikini pictures, why not charge for it?’” she shares. Initially skeptical, she gave it a try and was surprised by the success. “I was like, seriously, people pay for that? I like my body, and I want to post it anyway… So I thought, I’ll give it a month and see how it goes. And it was crazy!” she recalls.
Despite the unconventional nature of her income stream, Ianculescu is clear about her long-term plans. “I have patience. I plan to do this for a long time,” she says, emphasizing that she’s not focused on settling down or starting a family anytime soon. Instead, her sights are firmly set on her athletic goals. “I’m going to work hard until I get there,” she declares, determined to make her mark at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Ianculescu’s story highlights her resilience and determination, both on and off the track. She is unapologetic about her choices, understanding the importance of creative solutions in pursuing her dreams while navigating the financial realities of elite sports. With her eyes on the prize, Ianculescu continues to push forward, proving that her drive to succeed in the Olympics is stronger than ever.
